Terry Flanagan: Racking up bodies

When Gennady Golovkin stopped Kell Brook, he also put an end to the Brits incredible unbeaten streak.  At that point, the IBF Welterweight champion had won 36 straight fights and had become a household name but the guy who has taken over at the top of this particular tree has somewhat flown under the radar.

Tyson Fury (25-0) Hughie Fury (20-0) and Callum Smith (22-0) are all undefeated but are some way behind the top spot.  Billy Joe Saunders (24-0) and Kal Yafai (21-0) are world champions at their respective weights but still fall short when it comes to consecutive body count.

The mantel belongs to Manchester’s WBO Lightweight world champion Terry Flanagan who has amassed an impressive 32 straight victories without defeat.

On a world level thats more impressive than Keith Thurman (28-0) Terrence Crawford (30-0) and Andre Ward (31-0)!

Only Golovkin himself (37-0) and Mikey Garcia (36-0) a fellow lightweight world champion, have more impressive victory runs.

Lets hope the brand new spotlight of BT Sport propels Terry ‘Turbo’ Flanagan’s name into the same sentences as the men above rather than pretending he doesn’t even exist.  Celebrate him, he is very very special.

NB. I’ve purposely left Floyd Mayweather (49-0) out of this as I class him as retired.
